  Ninety minutes, in person in DIFC or by telephone, spent working out which halls are worth your day, which hours to avoid, what to wear, where the seating is and which four stands to aim for. You leave with a written plan and a hall route.

• Guided hall walk

  A two-hour walk through one exhibition hall with no more than twelve people, covering roughly a dozen cars in proper detail. Two seated pauses are built into the route, and the pace is set by the slowest walker rather than the fastest.

• Concours lawn morning

  An early start on a lawn event, covering how the judging is organised, which classes matter, how to talk to owners and where to stand for the departure at the end. Ends before the heat builds, with shade and water arranged throughout.

• Preview evening support

  Help with getting a place at a quieter preview evening and with using it well: which three cars to give your time to, what to ask the technical staff, and how to record the answers before the evening blurs into a pleasant memory.

• Test drive preparation

  A session devoted to the drive itself: which route to insist on, how to have the car left standing in the sun beforehand, what to test in the first twenty minutes, and the five questions a stand can never answer about ride, noise and cooling.

• Shortlist consultation

  Two hours turning a full notebook into three honest candidates, with the brief written first and the running costs looked up together. No car is recommended and no showroom is introduced; the list is yours and it stays with you.
