About this site
This is a personal site about car exhibitions and luxury shows in the Emirates, written by one private individual for readers who have been driving long enough to know what they actually want from a car.
Why this site exists
How these notes are put together
It began as a notebook. After a few seasons of walking exhibition halls and standing on lawns in the early morning, it became obvious that the same questions came up every time and that nothing written about these events answered them. Where is the seating. Which hour is quiet. How far will I walk. What can I honestly learn from a car I am not allowed to drive. Those questions became the guides on this site.
The writing is deliberately unexcited. There are no lap times here, no comparisons of acceleration, and no encouragement to want something you had not thought about before breakfast. The measure applied to every car is whether it would be pleasant to live with in this climate, on ordinary roads, with ordinary luggage and ordinary passengers. That measure is unfashionable and it is the right one for most of the people who read this.
Nothing on this site is sold on commission. No showroom pays for a mention, no car is recommended by name, and contact details given through the form are never passed to anyone who sells vehicles. The small services offered here are paid for directly by the people who use them, which is the simplest way to keep the advice honest and the only arrangement worth having.
The site is run by a private person, not a company. That means the scale is small on purpose: a dozen people on a hall walk, one conversation at a time, and a season that is busy rather than endless. If something cannot be done properly it is not offered at all, which is why the list of services is short and has stayed short.
-
Slow is the point
A dozen cars seen properly beat sixty glanced at. Every route, every walk and every session here is built around attention rather than coverage, because attention is what you actually take home.
-
Plain language
Specifications are explained in terms of what they mean from the driving seat. If a phrase needs a glossary, it gets a sentence of explanation instead, and nothing is described as revolutionary.
-
No interest in the sale
Advice here ends where advice should end. There is no commission, no introduction fee and no onward passing of your details, so nothing bends the answers you are given.
How this is different
What this site is not
- 01It is not a dealership, a broker or an agent. No vehicle is bought, sold or arranged on anyone's behalf, and no showroom has any arrangement with this site.
- 02It is not a news service. Nothing here chases announcements or rankings, and no car is scored, rated or placed in a league table of any kind.
- 03It is not a magazine with a masthead. There are no staff profiles, no guest columns and no sponsored articles, because there is no organisation behind the writing.
- 04It is not a guarantee. The guides describe how events are usually organised and how cars usually behave; venues change their arrangements and individual cars differ, so check anything that matters to you.
What can be arranged
Practical help around a show visit
These are small, personal services built around the exhibition calendar in Dubai. Group sizes are deliberately small, sessions are unhurried, and nothing here involves selling a car or passing your details to anyone who does. All prices are indicative and confirmed before anything is booked.

The main subject of this site
Show guides
Six long guides to the exhibition and luxury show side of motoring in Dubai, from the first visit to a crowded hall through to the shortlist you write afterwards. Each one is written to be read once, slowly, and then used.

Take the next show slowly
If there is an exhibition, a lawn morning or a preview evening you are thinking about, a short conversation beforehand usually makes the difference between a tiring day and a memorable one. Nothing is sold and nothing is arranged until you say so.
